The
Salomon Orchestra was conceived in the Augustiner Keller in Vienna in 1963 by
the conductor Nicholas Braithwaite and a group of his contemporaries. The group has worked with artists in the early years of their professional careers, many of them now established names in British music making, including conductors Sir Andrew Davis, Sir Simon Rattle and Martyn Brabbins. Lindberg's Clarinet Concerto caused something of a sensation at its 2002 premiere, bringing a new lyricism and emotional expression to his musical language. This will be the work's fourth UK performance.
