Paavali Jumppanen is a multi-award-winning artist with an impressive international reputation, and he brings Sibelius' three Sonatinas, Beethoven, and a recent work dedicated to him. Paavali Jumppanen is a multi-award-winning artist with an impressive international reputation, having performed extensively throughout Europe, America and Australia in recent years. His programme for this last concert in Sibelius’ anniversary week includes the three Sonatinas, and more music from Beethoven, featured throughout the festival as one of Sibelius’ great influences. As a look ahead to the rich variety of contemporary Finnish music still to come in the festival, Jumppanen performs a piece which he premiered in 2002, Strata, by composer/pianist Lauri Kilpiö.
